Loy Krathong is one of Thailand’s most iconic festivals, celebrated nationwide on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month. In 2025, Loy Krathong will be held on Thursday, 6 November.
During the festival, people float krathongs—small decorative rafts made from banana leaves, flowers, candles, and incense—on rivers, lakes, and canals. In northern Thailand, particularly Chiang Mai, thousands of sky lanterns are released into the night sky on 5–6 November 2025, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
Visitors can also enjoy traditional Thai performances, parades, and cultural activities. For the best experience, head to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, or Ayutthaya to witness the beauty and spirituality of the festival.
Tips for Visitors:
Arrive early at rivers or canals to float your krathong.
Use eco‑friendly krathongs to protect the environment.
Combine your visit with the Yi Peng Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai on 5–6 November for an extra magical experience.
Book accommodation and travel early, as the period becomes busy.
Experience Thailand’s Loy Krathong Festival 2025, a celebration of light, hope, and new beginnings.
